Product overview
Color is more than a visual choice in a reusable glove program. For private-label buyers, it affects shelf recognition, how a range is organized, packaging artwork and the practicality of repeat orders. A useful color brief gives the supplier a clear reference while leaving room to confirm the final production result through samples.
Start with the customer and sales channel
Choose colors for the people who will buy and use the gloves. Supermarket and e-commerce ranges often need a concise, easy-to-recognize palette that works with the brand’s packaging. Contract-cleaning or hospitality programs may need distinct colors to organize teams, rooms or tasks. Those operational choices should be agreed by the buyer’s own quality and procurement teams; the color alone does not determine chemical suitability or cleaning performance.
For many launches, a small core range is easier to manage than many similar shades. A buyer may begin with two to four colors, then review sales feedback before adding seasonal or market-specific options. This limits packaging variants and helps distributors replenish familiar items.
Give the factory an unambiguous reference
Do not rely on names such as “soft purple” or “fresh green” alone. Include a physical approved sample, a recognized color reference where available, or a clear digital reference as a starting point. Digital screens, photography and printed packaging can all shift the appearance of a color, so an approved glove sample should remain the final production reference.
In the same brief, specify whether color is required on the full glove, cuff, lining or decorative details. If the program contains several materials—latex household gloves, nitrile household gloves and PVC household gloves—record the required shade separately for each construction. The same nominal color can appear different across materials and finishes.
Connect color with the product specification
A color brief works best when it sits beside the main product requirements: model, material, length, size range, cuff style, lining, grip pattern, retail pack and master carton marks. For example, a buyer can ask for one color per size range, or use the same glove color with size differentiated on the packaging. State this clearly so that the factory does not infer an unintended variant.
For reusable household gloves, the relevant product page can be included in the inquiry: latex household gloves, nitrile household gloves or PVC household gloves. This helps keep model and material decisions connected to the color discussion.
Approve samples before bulk production
Request a pre-production sample when the color, artwork or packaging is new. Review the glove under consistent lighting alongside the approved reference and check that the color is suitable for the intended retail presentation. At the same time, confirm the size markings, pair packing, printed information and carton labels. Record the approval in writing with the sample date and version.
If acceptable tolerances matter to your program, describe how color variation will be assessed with the supplier before confirming the bulk order. This prevents an informal expectation from becoming a late-stage dispute.
Plan for repeat orders
A repeat-order file should retain the approved sample details, product model, color reference, packaging artwork version and latest purchase specifications. When colors change, issue a new version rather than reusing an old description. This creates a practical audit trail for buyers, factories and inspection teams.
A concise color brief for RFQs
Include these points in your next request for quotation:
- Product model, material and length
- Requested color reference and where it applies
- Sizes and whether color varies by size
- Target markets and packaging artwork version
- Required sampling and approval process
- Quantity by color and expected repeat-order plan
